Haimei Li was born in Qingdao, raised in Shanghai, and completed her undergraduate studies in Guangzhou, China. She later moved to the United States, where she earned her graduate degrees in Houston and Cambridge, and is now based in San Francisco. Haimei is a Licensed Architect in Massachusetts.

Her interdisciplinary expertise spans healthcare architecture, urban design, landsacpe design, and the cultural aspects of the built environment. Currently, she works as a healthcare designer at Perkins Eastman. Prior to this, she contributed to several prestigious firms, including Safdie Architects, Neri & Hu Design and Research Office, David Chipperfield Architects, Atelier Deshaus, and Ennead Architects.
Haimei holds a Master of Architecture in Urban Design from Harvard University Graduate School of Design,  a Master of Architecture from Rice University, and a Bachelor of Architecture from South China University of Technology, where she also completed a diploma in Historical Conservation. Her hybrid academic background provides her with a broad perspective on built environments across various scales and through the lenses of diverse users, considering both past and future contexts.

Outside of work, Haimei enjoys traveling, recording videos, and journaling through sketches. She is passionate about apparel design and graphic design. She is also interested in films and photography.
